Abigail Clark Kelley Davis Emily Dixon
Abigail began studying Pilates as a part of her dance training. While studying Dance and Exercise Science at Palm Beach Atlantic University, her love for movement led her to pursue training as a Pilates instructor. Abigail completed Lolita’s Legacy program under the mentorship of Danielle Armstrong, a 500 hour comprehensive certification designed by Pilates Elder Lolita San Miguel, one of two people to be certified by Joseph Pilates. Abigail loves the way Pilates strengthens and coordinates the entire body. She moved to Birmingham to dance with AROVA Contemporary Ballet and is excited to share her love for the Pilates method at Core Strong! In her free time, she enjoys experimenting with health recipes.
Kelley is an Alabama native and has been in Birmingham since graduating from Birmingham Southern College with a BA in Dance and a BS in Biology. Her introduction to Pilates came shortly thereafter through the dance world – using Mat exercises for core strengthening and increasing flexibility. She was impressed with how Pilates changed her body. In 2012, when re-entering the workforce after time off with her daughter, Kelley decided to pursue her Pilates Mat and Equipment teaching certification through a program with Balanced Body University in Atlanta. During this time, she continued to notice progress in how her body moved and functioned. Pilates seemed to even out the asymmetries and help her joints operate pain free. She enjoyed teaching and seeing her clients benefit from Pilates, as well. When a neck injury sidelined Kelley in 2014, it was much in thanks to Pilates that she was able to return to an active lifestyle with close to full range of her original movement. Kelley continues to train with some of the most experienced Pilates instructors in the Birmingham area. A recent highlight in her work was participating in a Kathy Grant retrospective workshop with Master Instructor Cara Reeser. In her free time, Kelley enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Emily is originally from Philadelphia, PA and moved to Birmingham in 2014. Her first introduction to Pilates was while attending Boyer College at Temple University. Emily Graduated from Temple with a B.F.A. in Modern Dance and Choreography. After graduating college Emily moved around many places including New Orleans and Oklahoma. Moving to Birmingham she found Pilates again and realized how much help it could do for not just her body but so many people that had never heard of it. She decided that she had to become a teacher and share her passion for Pilates. Emily spent a year and two months doing the Intermediate Plus Teacher Training Program at the Pilates Center based in Boulder Colorado completing 600 hours of Instruction as well as being an Apprentice at Core Strong. She earned her certificate on April 7th, 2016 and has been teaching at Core Strong since that day. In her free time in Birmingham Emily enjoys going to music venues in Birmingham and out to brunch with friends on Sunday.
