Therese Laeger

After performing with Cleveland Ballet and Alabama Ballet as a soloist/principal dancer,  Therese continued her dance career as ballet mistress with Alabama Ballet.  As Dance Chair of the Alabama School of Fine Arts (1997 – 2007) she added Pilates to the curriculum.

In 2009, she completed the teachers training program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, subsequently teaching at Pilates on Highland, The Country Club of Birmingham, A Center for Eating Disorders and as guest instructor at the Embody Practice Center before joining Core Strong Pilates.

In addition to teaching with the remarkable teachers of Core Strong, she continues to work professionally in the dance world maintaining positions with AROVA Contemporary Ballet, AROVA documentary project, The Dance Foundation and the University of Montevallo Department of Theatre where Pilates informs her eye and provides valuable teaching tools.

Her goal in all Pilates work is to focus on the supportive breath and centering movement needed for the mind, body and spirit.  She encourages a balance of both strength and flexibility so that, as Joseph Pilates says….  “Do Pilates, enjoy your life!”
